ASG Lighting Kit installation guidance
Thank you for your purchase of the ASG Offroad interior lighting kit and welcome to the ASG Offroad family!!

This plug and play kit has been hand-crafted to pair with your camper, yet provides you with the flexibility to choose your own path on how you decide to integrate it to your build.
Below I’ve put together a few steps that follow how the ASG Offroad build is set up. Feel free to follow along and/or make it your own…
ASG Offroad Lighting Kit includes the following...
- Power leads (newer kits include a single lead with cigarette plug and a power splitter).
- Enough 4-pin extension cables to connect "downstairs" and "upstairs" lighting to their respective controller.
-
"Downstairs"
-
3 x 19" HardKorr light bars (with removable diffuser)
- XL version upgrades two of the 19" light bars to two 40" light bars.
-
1 x controller (flush mount with SP X1 kit)
- Dimmable and color changing (white, off-white, and orange)
-
3 x 19" HardKorr light bars (with removable diffuser)
-
"Upstairs"
-
1 x 10" HardKorr light bar (with removable diffuser)
- XL version upgrades to a 19" light bar.
-
1 x controller (flush mount with SP X1 kit)
- Dimmable and color changing (white, off-white, and orange)
- SP X1 kits ONLY - 150" of T-slot covers (for hiding wiring in the t-channels of the upstairs portion of the camper).
-
1 x 10" HardKorr light bar (with removable diffuser)
- One "double remote" included with the purchase wireless controller option.
Steps of the ASG integration…
If you have a GFC, GFC specific hardware will be included. The installation instructions are similar but may require a little more improvising for wire/cable management.
Again, this is installation guidance...not hard and fast instructions...This being that you can make your own system that best suits you.
-
Get organized and lay out everything in a “staging area” of sorts so everything is easily identifiable.
- You may not need all three orange-ended cords depending on the Make/Model of your truck.
- Set the downstairs HardKorr light bars, 1 x controller, and the three (3) smallest orange-ended cords off to the side for the “down stairs” area.
- Set the upstairs HardKorr light bar, 1 x controller, remaining orange-ended cords, and T-slot covers to the side for the “up stairs” area.
- Prep your rig/camper to include power management.
- It’s very helpful to have a wiring sketch or diagram of where you’d like to have power sources…etc.
Downstairs portion
-
Once the lighting kit's power source location has been identified, run the cigarette plug power cord (some kits may have two power cords whereas the newer ones have a single power cord and power cord splitter) to the designated power source.
- SP X1 campers use the camper’s fuselage/wire management chase that is built into the camper.

-
Connect the other end to the HardKorr switch controllers.
- If your kit includes the power cord splitter, you’ll want to connect this to the main power cord first so you can run power individually to each controller.

-
Take the largest three (3) light bars and place them in the desired locations within the camper using the adhesive backed mounting plates after sliding them on the light bars. Routing the wiring through these can be a little tedious, wrapping them with a little bit of tape helps ensure that the nut does not get stuck in the mounting plate.
-
We placed ours on the Driver and Passenger side, and on the rear of the camper.
-
SP X1 campers - If you purchased the XL kit you'll want to attach them with enough clearance to connect the wiring and then push the connector through the SP's fuselage. You may want to affix the rear bar to the lip that acts as a water channel to direct rainwater away from the hatch opening. This will allow more light to shine down on the tailgate.

-
Take the three (3) smallest orange cables and stage them to wire up the “down stairs” lighting.
-
Continue this process until the “down stairs” area is wired up.
- SP X1 campers - This process of feeding the wiring around the corners can be tricky. Tying a zip tie to one end helped me quite a bit.

- Connect the first orange cable to the orange lead on the “down stairs” controller and the other end to the closest light bar.
- In a daisy chain series connect the remaining light bars with the orange-ended cords.
-

Upstairs portion
- Like the downstairs portion you’ll start with the power cord and connect them to the HardKorr controller.
- We then ran the orange-ended cords forward towards the front of the truck on the bed platform.
- We tucked ours in on the drivers side and affixed it where the aluminum extrusion meets the tent material with long ½” strips of Gorilla Tape. Using Gorilla Tape is at your own risk being that if you decide to remove it later there will be adhesive to remove (it’s very tough stuff).
- We then tucked the cord in the upper t-track and ran it toward the rear of the camper (video showing this is HERE).
- SP X1 campers - This is where the T-slot cover comes in handy to secure/hide the wiring.
- GFC campers - you can use the enclosed zip-tie sticky mounts to attach the cord to the roofline of the camper.
-
Lastly, we attached the upstairs light bar to the rear t-track using the enclosed hardware (do...not...over tighten...snug is good, tucked everything in, and All Systems were Go for Offroad!!
Porch lights (GFC users may need to drill an access hole in the camper to route wiring)
- Like the upstairs or downstairs portions, you’ll start with the power cord and connect them to the HardKorr controller.
-
We then ran the orange-ended cords through the fuselage towards the front bulkhead and set aside.
-
If you purchased porch lights for both sides, you'll now want to connect the orange wire splitter.

-
Using the enclosed mounting hardware, mount the porch light(s) making sure to insert the foam backing (this will help prevent any wear to the finish of the camper).
-
Push out the plastic grommet on the X1 through the fuselage.
-
Feed the porch light wiring through the waterproof housing. Make sure you feed the wiring through the correct direction BEFORE you attach it to the camper (once the housing is on, it's a bit difficult to remove). Additionally, I split one side of the rubber crush washer as pushing the orange connector through it is very tough...almost impossible.
- Attach the waterproof housing making sure that access hole is completely covered.
-
Lastly, connect the porch light(s) to the orange connecter inside the camper, tucked everything in, and All Systems were Go for Offroad!!
Again, this is more guidance from how we set up our camper…feel free to take what you’d like, and discard what isn’t needed to make it your own.
